The lid lifts to reveal an interior of harewood, again crossbanded with kingwood and beautifully painted with a plentiful basket of flowers, three fine harewood canisters, one for green tea, the other for black, both painted with stems of roses, and a third central canister for the mixed leaves.
This is painted with a designs emblematic of love; cupid's quiver of arrows and a hymeneal torch (so called after Hymen, the Greek goddess of marriage).
