A penny-in-the-slot tobacco dispenser often referred to as an honesty or honour box on account of the trust bestowed upon the smoker that they will fill only their pipe-bowl with tobacco and not their pockets! w:9.1/4 in x d:4 5/8 in x h:7 in. English circa 1830.
This one stamped by the maker, Rich, Patentee Bridgewater and to one lid RICH'S PATENT beneath a Royal Coat of Arms, to the other id is the number 13899.
