Item Details

Wonderful and rare Italian gilt lamp - this is tall enough to work as a floor lamp and indeed has been fitted with a foot switch. Or equally it works as a table lamp depending on your requirement. (The depth of the shade is 41 cms, which is quite large, so if you wanted it as a table lamp you could always replace it with a shade that has less depth).

The base is a black Italian marble - nero marquina , and the black metal ‘stem’ has gilt metal flowers and berries.

Made in Italy for the US market around 1960, it has the original harp but the large black, gold-lined shade is new and has been adapted to work with this.

Hidden within the four flowers are the bulb holders which accept small (e14) screw in bulbs; I’ve used gold capped ones for the purposes of the photographs. Within the shade is another bulb holder which takes one e27 bulb. You can choose how you light this by the switch by the top bulb holder.

In very good condition for age. There looks like there might be a small chip to the black marble, although it looks like part of the natural stone too. Please see pic. It doesn’t detract.

And please check measurements - it’s huge!
