https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/3detailsA refined mid-century French floor lamp combining gilt bronze with a faceted crystal node, a lotus-form corolla and a poised tripod base supporting a white opaline torchiere shade. The vocabulary aligns with premier Paris decorating houses of the period. One bronze casting is punch-marked “AS,” consistent with Asselbur, Paris, active suppliers to top decorators.
Provenance — Villa Médy-Roc, Cap d’Antibes, a celebrated Riviera commission decorated in the 1950s by Jules Leleu.
Attribution — Attributed to Asselbur, Paris, c.1955–60 (foundry/atelier mark “AS” present).
Condition — Very good, original gilding with light, even oxidation and small touch-ins; crystal clean and undamaged; shade in excellent order (period-appropriate).
Electrics — Professionally rewired for UK use with appropriate lampholder and PAT-style safety check. As with all vintage lighting, we recommend installation by a qualified electrician.
Display & use — Ideal as an architectural uplight, reading-corner accent, or entry hall statement, pairing especially well with polished stone, lacquer and mid-century veneers.
