A striking 20th Century French mixed-media figure study depicting a seated female nude, rendered with remarkable economy and confidence.


Executed in charcoal and sanguine tones on paper, the composition focuses on the torso and lower body, allowing form, colour and gesture to take precedence over detail. Soft passages of warm terracotta and reddish hues are combined with delicate charcoal line work to create a figure of sculptural presence and subtle sensuality. The artist’s restrained treatment of the head and surrounding space lends the work an immediacy characteristic of studio life drawing, while the fluid modelling demonstrates a keen understanding of anatomy and movement.
