Painted in an expressive early 20th Century sporting manner. The composition captures the quiet elegance of the turf, with the rider shown at rest against a soft atmospheric landscape. Executed with confident brushwork and rich tonal colour, the painting has an appealing immediacy and painterly quality. Signed indistinctly lower right and presented in a giltwood frame. French School, Circa 1920.
