A sculptural mid-20th Century French hammered copper rat de cave candlestick.


Traditionally used in wine cellars, the candlestick features a hand-forged spiral candle holder rising from a broad circular drip pan with scrolling carrying handle. The richly textured copper surface displays extensive hand-hammered decoration, while the unusual spiral stem lends the piece a distinctive sculptural quality.


Beautifully handcrafted and retaining a warm, naturally aged patina, the candlestick functions equally well as a practical object or decorative accent. A characterful example of traditional French copperware.
