An elegant pair of 1930s French cane and rattan armchairs.


Of unusual form, each chair features a shaped arched crest above an open lattice back, flanked by sweeping serpentine arms with finely wrapped wicker detailing. Raised on tapering supports united by X-form stretchers, the chairs display a high level of craftsmanship throughout, with intricate hand-bound construction and beautifully executed woven work. Retaining a rich honey-coloured patina, the chairs possess a sculptural quality characteristic of the finest French wicker furniture of the period.


Their refined silhouette and organic materials make them equally suited to a traditional interior, garden room or contemporary decorative scheme.
