Pair of striking Italian stools dating to the 19th century. Executed in a dramatic Renaissance-revival style.


Carved to both sides, each stool features a boldly carved X-form base, centred with a sculpted moustached mask and embellished with scrolling foliage. The legs terminate in pronunced lions paw feet while the stretchers are turned in a distinctive barley-twist form.


Carved egg and dart border to seats.


These handsome curule-inspired stools are equally suitable as occasional seating, hall stools, or as a statement accent at the foot of a bed.
