Beautiful early example of a Painted and 'Japan Lacquered' Tea Canister made for a grocery store with hand painted scene of the Castle at Ferrara in Italy.

I bought the canister years ago from an old shop in Honley near Holmfirth in Yorkshire , probably the only surviving tin from a much larger set from which the shop dispensed tea.

Measures 18 inches tall x 12 wide. In good sturdy if slightly worn condition from its long usage.
