Item Description
Classical carved wood Pediment that was made as the Crest for a Painting or Mirror in the reign of the Emperor Napoleon I in early 19th century France. Circa 1800-1840.
The Gilded Pediment is surmounted with the laurel garlanded head of Napoleon Bonaparte over a central vase of Flowers, flanked by Eagles and with Mirrored glass backing.
On the reverse side of the pediment, a piece of shaped card holds in place the smaller pieces of mirror glass.
The pediment measures 18 inches tall x 26 wide, not including the 4 inch wood struts at the base which fixed it on to the mirror.
In excellent condition.
