Item Description
A rare chocolate lover's item is this original 'Chocolatiere' or hot chocolate warmer/dispenser which came from a Victorian era café in Paris. The traditional style dispenser consists of a beautifully painted heavy china base tub, usually known as a 'Bain Marie' which holds hot water and can be heated from below which is topped by a brass lid having three receptacles to hold the three heavy china chocolate pots for dispensing the hot chocolate. The painted sides of the Bain Marie have traditional scenes of peasants by a doorway. The china base also has Lion Masks at either end with brass ring handles.
The heavy china pots have brass banding with handles. There are some minor chips to the spouts and one pot has an old crack going down it but is completely stable .
Other than that, the Chocolatiere is in really excellent condition, and dates between 1860-1890. Restoration of the china pots would greatly increase the value of the chocolate dispenser. Measurements are 23" long x 6" deep x 14" high. Signed by the makers LeJuste & Co, Paris (see photo of makers name on undernath of base).
