Untouched Early 19th-Century Georgian Pitch Pine Country House Cabinet

A wonderfully untouched early 19th-century Georgian pitch pine country house cabinet, retaining its original character and charm throughout.
This well proportioned two door bookcase or kitchen cupboard features a square moulded cornice over a pair of astragal glazed doors, opening to a painted interior with a fixed shelf. Below are two panelled cupboard doors offering generous enclosed storage, the whole standing on its original plinth base. The sides are fully panelled, and the piece still has its original planked back. The cabinet has its original glazing, a beautifully mellow patina, and rich, warm colours that have developed over more than 200 years of gentle use. Completely honest and untouched, it has the true “country house” look that is now increasingly hard to find.
English, circa 1800, this is both a highly decorative and very practical piece of early pine furniture. It would work equally well in a period interior or as a striking, characterful contrast in a more contemporary setting. Ideal for use in a large kitchen, pantry, dining room or hallway, it offers excellent storage as well as great visual presence. A superb example of English country house furniture with real integrity, charm and usability.
