A useful size to this very decorative and charming antique 19th century European rectangular small chest or box.


Retaining the original very pretty metalware and paint decoration to both the outer and inner parts.


The hinged lid, which has an historic crack to the lid as can be seen in the picture and which is stable, opens to reveal a plain interior in pale painted grey.


The exterior of the box has a background colour of dark green, with the hand painted decor being in earthy attractive colours, with the lid showing a date for 1897.


Either end can be lifted with a hand forged metal handle.


A larger box of the same colour and design is also available.
