Item Details

A collection of decorative vintage white plaster models of 4 shells and 4 bases. Ideal curiosity cabinet decor or just to use as individual decoration with books, on tables, in bathrooms and especially lovely for seaside homes.  You could also mix them in with a collection of natural shells, creating a lovely textured look. Would work well for artists creating a still life painting.

Each piece is as it was found at the factory in France that they came from, ie they have not been filed or fettled to finish them off ready for use, rather adding to their charm. You can see on most items the model number imprinted on them. What was their intended use? possibly for use with religious statues and models, maybe even the shells were intended to be hollowed out as little fonts, but now remain as shells. In their natural plaster state, they would have originally been intended to be painted and maybe glazed, but so glad to have found them like this.

The bases on their own are of course ideal for using with other ornament, such as small statues, vases, bowls etc. The final picture shows the number for that item, and corresponds with the prices below. If you are interested in buying the collection please request a price.
