A large and detailed, early 20th century portrait painting of a cockerel. Belgium, c.1925


Painted and signed by Paul Henri Schouten, renowned for his finely observed oil studies of animals - particularly poultry. Executed in oil on board and presented in its original gilt frame, which shows minor losses to the upper left corner.


The reverse bears a pencil inscription with the artist’s name and the date, 1925.
