Item Description

A beautifully rustic Naga wooden table from the early 20th century. This antique table from Nagaland, India was originally used by the Naga tribes of North East India as a grinding table, for grains such as millet. The four holes within the centre are where the grains would be held and ground using long poles. The wood has a nice distressed time-worn patina and the table has been carved out of a single log. Please note that the surface is not completely flat. This turn-of-the-century Nagaland grinding table would work well as a coffee table or perhaps within a commercial setting, as a statement piece adding warmth and texture.
