Oval copper jelly mould of coronet form with six ball finials, impressed orb and cross for maker, Bentham and Froud, London. Pattern number 65
English, circa 1850–1900
Benham & Froud was established in Chandos Street, London in 1785 and described themselves as coppersmiths and braziers. The firm was commissioned to make the replacement orb and cross for the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral in 1821 and as a consequence they adopted this as their trademark, which was used from 1855 to 1924 on pots and cookware of all sorts including jelly moulds, kettles, spoons, roasters, and poachers.
