With domed top over three tapering sides, the righthand door opens with a pin catch to allow access. The rear of the lantern is mounted with a concave copper light reflector, this would have been polished to reflect the candle light, now with a lovely patina to it. The internal top has a hole above the candle so the heat of the candle passes through the hole and is dissipated by the tole domed top. The interior with discolouration showing through the paint, however the whole lantern is quite stable and in good order. Glazed with old wavy glass. Photographed with a small candle holder within as an example (the candlestick is not included).
English, circa 1830-1860
The lantern has not been electrified, should you require it to be converted this could be arranged.
