A Dutch East Indies padouk and ebony brass mounted strong box or coffer
Rectangular, with ebonized mouldings to the lid and base, the front with domed-topped studs, repeated to the lid, and a large brass pierced escutcheon with lock and original key. The ends fitted with quality brass carrying-handles with elaborate pierced back-plates. The lid opens to reveal a pair of strap hinges to the underside.
