Item Details

This coffee table in brushed steel with a smoked glass top is a production signed by the prestigious Maison Charles, founded in Paris in 1908. Executed circa 1960, it fully embodies the modernist vocabulary that characterised the firm's editions in the late 1950s and 1960s: architectural lines, slender metal structure, and a smoked glass top that brings depth and contrast. The brushed steel, finely treated, catches the light with elegant matte nuances, while the tinted glass softens and balances the whole. Maison Charles, founded by Ernest Charles and later developed by his sons, quickly became a Parisian reference in the creation of lighting and decorative furniture. Throughout the 20th century, it combined a demand for traditional craftsmanship with an openness to modernist currents. This coffee table is a clear testimony: it translates the discreet elegance of furniture designed for refined interiors, where each material is chosen for its visual and tactile coherence. With generous dimensions (Width: 131 cm | Depth: 70 cm | Height: 46.5 cm), it naturally takes its place as a centrepiece in a living room, a hotel lobby or a reception space. Its horizontal, structured silhouette articulates the space without overwhelming it. A creation signed by Maison Charles whose Parisian heritage and controlled modernity continue to dialogue with classical, eclectic and contemporary interiors alike.
