This generous pair of rattan lounge armchairs, of French craftsmanship and dating to circa 1970, exemplifies the warm domesticity that made natural rattan furniture so prized in postwar French interiors. With their broad seats and relaxed proportions, these chairs occupy a comfortable middle ground between the formal upholstered armchair and the light garden chair—at home in a living room, a sunlit conservatory, or an informal sitting room.
