Bruno Gecchelin (born 1939, Milan) stands among the most consistently original voices of Italian industrial design in the second half of the twentieth century. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, Gecchelin developed a practice rooted in the rationalist tradition of Italian design — rigorous in its thinking about materials, production processes, and the practical demands of the object, yet never sacrificing the aesthetic dimension that distinguishes design from mere engineering. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he created landmark products for Bieffeplast, iGuzzini, Leucos, and Gruppo Skipper, earning numerous design prizes and the enduring respect of his peers. The “Pollux” lamp, produced by Gruppo Skipper — the Milanese design and distribution company that collaborated with the leading designers of its generation — represents Gecchelin at his most characteristic.
