Exceptional vintage Italian marble coffee table dating from the 1980s, featuring a beautifully sculptural form and spectacular natural stone.


This substantial coffee table is entirely executed in marble and combines the luxurious materiality of Italian stone with the bold, architectural design language associated with postmodern Italian interiors of the 1970s and 1980s.


The large tabletop has a particularly attractive organic geometric shape, combining straight lines with generously rounded ends and softly curved corners. It rests on two substantial slab-form marble supports, creating a strong architectural silhouette while keeping the overall design remarkably clean and elegant.


The marble itself is the true highlight of this piece. A predominantly creamy white background is crossed by dramatic charcoal-grey, black, warm beige and soft brown veining. A striking band of darker mineral formations runs through the tabletop, creating an almost abstract composition within the natural stone.


The marble closely resembles varieties of Italian Arabescato marble; however, as the exact quarry or marble variety cannot be documented, we prefer not to make a definitive attribution.


Each section of stone displays its own natural pattern, making this a completely unique piece.


Its combination of sculptural geometry, exceptional natural marble and generous proportions makes this table particularly suitable as a statement piece in a contemporary, minimalist, brutalist, organic modern or eclectic interior.


Despite its strong visual presence, the predominantly pale colour palette makes the table remarkably versatile. It would work beautifully alongside neutral upholstery, rich woods, chrome, stainless steel or other natural materials.


A wonderful example of the luxurious use of marble that became synonymous with high-end Italian interior design during the late 20th century.


CONDITION
The table is in good vintage condition with signs of age and previous use consistent with a piece of this period.
Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. Natural variations, veins, mineral inclusions and tonal differences are inherent characteristics of genuine marble and should not be considered defects.
