A good looking set of 6 dining chairs in oak by Leon Jallot. The chairs are noted and there is an example in the Musée d'Orsay Paris.
Léon Jallot a scion of the French Art Nouveau, stood out within the movement as an ébéniste, or cabinet maker. Beginning his furniture making career in his teens, Jallot would move on to managing the furniture workshop of designer Siegfried Bing from 1898 to 1901. His time there exposed him to Bing’s designs for La Maison de l’Art Nouveau, and thereafter he launched his own creative career.
The chairs sit in their original oak finish, have not been stripped like some, showing some historic wear to the frames with pieces of the central motif missing on some. All chairs are firm and the seats are wood replacements which you could cover if required. Our upholsterer Mark would be able to add a plump seat in leather or fabric at a cost of £75 plus VAT per chair plus fabric if required and we have access to good leather and fabric if also required.
A seldom seen set from Leon Jallot C1905
