A good 19th century Scottish Islands Porters Chair, covered in its original black faux leather , made in the Shetland Islands from grass and often pieces of driftwood because the lack of wood on the islands. The curved backs and hood would have kept the warmth for the fire in , and draughts from sometimes wild Orkney weather out.
