"The Inner Harbour, Polperro" Oil on Canvas, by Sydney Foley, 1916 - 2001, ROI, RSMA and also member of Wapping Group of Artists - London Art Group Established in 1946.
The Wapping Group of Artists was formally founded in 1946 and initially met to record the busy life of London's dockland. Foley ventured further afield, preferring to capture the life, with both hustle and bustle, and stillness of Cornish Fishing Villages, being portrayed.

This extremely well executed painting, with it's "Seago" type qualities, shows tethered fishing boats on the mudflats, as the tide has gone out. One's eye is drawn to the brick red boat in the foreground, then the blue boat beyond Two people walk towards the harbour wall, which has charming cottages nestling together alongside, with a
hill of woodland beyond.
Cleaned and re-framed in a pale grey washed wooden frame, with a silver slip and linen mount.
