An Enticing Still Life with a culinary compostion, oil on canvas, by Henry Collins (1910 -1994) signed and dated verso, 1971.


Henry Collins was born in Colchester, Essex, and studied at The Colchester School of Fine Art. and Central School of Art, London.  He served with The Royal Artillery and The Royal Engineers during the war.  Thereafter he continued to work as a freelance designer, an artist, and teacher,  teaching part time at The Graphic Design Department at St Martins School of Art and Colchester School of Art. He was a member of the Colchester Art Society, which he founded along with fellow painters, John Nash and Cedric Morris.


He was married to Joyce Pallot Collins.
