An incredible rare and beautifully serene depiction of an Angel c.1450. Northern European.

With large traces of original gilding and polychrome remaining. She is exceptionally carved, standing upon swirling Heavenly clouds with an expression which is gentle and contemplative. Clothed in a simple and fluid dress with minimal folding and a central button fastened clasp, her body standing in an ‘S’ shaped pose. Her lips are rosy red with her curling hair cascading around her shoulders.

She is a truly an enchanting Medieval treasure.
