Item Description
A superb stone composite statue of a Wild Boar Mid 20th Century.
This rendition is based on the original 2nd -1st century B.C. Roman marble statue that is housed in the Uffizi in Florence. It owes most of its fame to well known 17th-century copy in bronze (the so-called “Porcellino” or “Piglet”), commissioned by Cosimo II de' Medici from sculptor Pietro Tacca.
Naturalistic and life-like. The animal is captured in a totally realistic pose; the boar has been woken by the approach of the hunter and alarmed, sits up on its front legs, sniffing the air and bearing it’s snarling teeth!
A perfect Gatekeeper for your home or garden, a grand statement showcasing a fearless beast symbolising bravery, command, control and fighting spirit!
