Spectacular large carved and gilded wooden eagle lectern c.1830. Standing over six feet tall. Large and beautifully carved eagle with wings outstretched to form a lectern with a raised ledge at the rear. Particularly good treatment of the head and feathers and retaining the original gilding nicely rubbed though in places to reveal the red ground below. Raised on a 46" tall painted and gilded turned column with carved mouldings and acanthus detail, raised on large paw feet. Some wear and retouching, generally excellent condition.
