Item Details

Very smart French Empire style bookcase c.1890. Two glazed doors with blind panels in the base. Fitted inside with three adjustable shelves (internal depth 13"). Flame mahogany veneered frieze above the doors with a large Classical style pierced brass mount featuring swans, emblem of the Empress Josephine. Flanked with turned columns featuring chased brass mounts top and bottom. Note also the decorative pierced mounts and escutcheons on the doors. Highly figured and symmetrically arranged flame mahogany veneers to the sides. Crossbanded plinth with projecting front corners to carry the columns. Raised on turned feet. Very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
