Beautiful Japanese Meiji period lacquered display cabinet or stand c.1900. Flat top for display with raised ends, over a cabinet with sliding doors, a small cupboard with a bow fronted door, three small shelves, a two door cabinet and two drawers. Raised on a separate base. Striking dark red lacquered ground with a lovely decorative scheme featuring a hand painted decoration of a tree with the trunk raising from the base, flanked with chrysanthemum flowers, with the leaves and blossom across the upper portion of the cabinet amongst which several birds are found. Decoration continues on the sides and rear and on the cupboard interiors. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
