Item Details

Smart little mid 19th.c. French burr walnut and marble top commode c.1840. Useful small size, just 30" wide. Original dark grey marble top with a moulded edge over a chest of four drawers. Slimmer top drawer with a shaped front (continued on the cabinet sides) and brass handle in the form of a swan. Over three larger drawers with inlaid brass escutcheons, set within a moulded surround. Highly figured burr walnut veneers laid to create a symmetrical pattern across the front of the piece. Solid walnut sides to the cabinet Raised on a shallow plinth veneered to match, and slim pad feet. Repair to the back right hand corner of the marble. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied to work all three lower drawers.
