Splendid late 19th.c. carved oak open bookcase or bookshelves c.1880. Standing just over seven feet tall and fitted with three adjustable shelves (depth 13") plus a useful drawer in the base. Superb Renaissance revival carvings to the deep moulded cornice and the pilasters, featuring lion's heads, male and female caryatids and cherubs (note the feathered wings below the heads) over shallow a carved decoration. Oak shelves with moulded and crenelated front edges. Deep plinth with reeded drawer front (continued on the sides) with brass ring handles, further carved detail and a deep ogee moulding around the base. Oak panelled sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
Note this bookcase can be disassembled for delivery, ideal for rooms with awkward access.
