Unique and comfortable mid-20th Century English hand-carved tree trunk chair.


Fashioned from a single section of solid elm, showcasing the timber’s wonderful natural grain, organic form and character. Expertly sculpted to retain the tree’s original contours, the chair features a generous shaped seat with flowing armrests and an eye-catching pierced back, making it as much a piece of functional sculpture as practical seating.


The beautifully weathered surface has developed a soft, bleached patina, highlighting the dramatic grain, knots, natural splits and burrs that give each piece its own unique identity. Mounted on a substantial carved pedestal base, it is exceptionally sturdy and would make a superb statement in a country house, garden room, orangery, or as a distinctive outdoor feature. A wonderful example of rustic craftsmanship, celebrating the beauty of natural timber with no two pieces ever the same.
