Item Details

The early twentieth century boudoir doll having a pressed stockinette head with painted green eyes and strawberry blond hair dressed in a bun, to a period black & chocolate brown velvet dress with gold piping and central sequinned flower burst with taffeta adornments to gold painted shoes and surviving from the first quarter of twentieth century France.

In completely original order, her costume is slightly tired as one would expect, with one taffeta sleeve being slightly loose, but present, and with some loss to the sequins, but she is completely original.

Impressionistic of seductive, long-limbed ladies, boudoir dolls were produced mainly in France and Spain between 1920 and 1930. Unlike most dolls they were made to be placed on beds and in boudoirs. The dolls today are sought after because of their classic artistic styling and, often, their art deco look.

An example with real panache, and a naughty expression, we might add.
