Item Details

The very scarce medieval period table knife having a fullered iron single cutting edge blade with a wooden handle and pressed metal pommel with naïve etched flower design, the whole surviving from the middle of the fifteenth century in good relic condition.

The knife is in very good condition with patination commensurate with age and no damage to report other than a nick to the blade as photographed. The handle is beautifully tactile.

Knifes like this are typically found in places like the river Thames in London.

Always a delight to handle something of this age and a beautiful remember of daily life of more than five hundred years ago.
