A carved 19th Century Italian wooden cart fragment, depicting two armoured knights engaged in combat before a dramatic landscape.


The panel is worked in deep open-relief, with the central figures shown mid-battle, their shields and weapons raised. Behind them rise stylised palm trees and architectural forms—perhaps evoking a fortified town or distant citadel. The ends of the panel terminate in carved helmeted heads.
