Item Details

This is a truly impressive antique pestle and mortar dating from the early 19th century. The mortar is an inverted bell shape with ribbed upper rim and ogee cast circular base; the pestle is 46cm long with a shallow waisted shaft. The metal is weathered with some surface rust and scratching commensurate with its great age.
