Gogottes are 30 million year old 'works of art' crafted entirely by nature. They are formed from quartz crystals and calcium carbonate. Superheated water extrudes through crevices into a basin of extremely fine white silica sand, and over time, the most extraordinary shapes are created, such as this example. These rare minerals are found in only one place in the world; Fontainebleau, France, and have inspired artists such as Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.
