https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/foundersA late Victorian mahogany occasional table by Liberty of London, the square top with shaped corners set over a cruciform body of four open compartments framed by pierced Moorish cusped arches and incorporating bobbin-turned spindle galleries, united by a conforming lobed undertier and raised on splayed tapering legs.
A documented model from Leonard Wyburd’s Anglo-Moorish department for Liberty & Co, the table adapts Moorish turned lattice work while offsetting the square top at 45 degrees to the cruciform base, ensuring all four compartments remain accessible in the round and making the piece purpose-suited as a freestanding companion beside a reading armchair.
Very good antique condition, the solid mahogany retaining a rich patina with some historic surface marks and tonal softening to the top consistent with age. Structurally sound and ready to place.
English, circa 1900.
