https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/foundersA Chippendale period Georgian bureau constructed in solid mahogany. The framed single-plank fall-front opens to a gold tooled tan leather writing surface with an arrangement of small drawers and pigeon holes flanking a central cupboard, all set over two short and three long graduated oak-lined drawers retaining period-correct brass swan-neck handles, above a moulded lower edge and raised on shaped bracket feet.
The compact width provides a practical writing desk for a study, library or drawing room alcove, with a writing height perfectly proportioned for standard seating. The fall-front is secured by a heavy three-bolt lock, with the entire suite of original iron drawer locks fully operational via a single hand-forged iron key.
Very good antique condition, showing a deep, undisturbed patina and minor surface wear consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1770.
