Item Details

A George III Sheraton period mahogany kneehole desk, the flame-figured top crossbanded in satinwood with a geometric marquetry border, quarter-paterae inlays to the corners and centred by an inlaid shell medallion. An integral brushing slide sits above a configuration of graduated drawers, all with matching geometric marquetry borders, flanking a recessed central cupboard with a further shell patera, all raised on shaped bracket feet.

Reflecting the neat proportions of classic Sheraton design, the piece serves beautifully as a functional writing desk or dressing table for a principal bedroom. All original locks are fully operational via a single key, with the exception of the central drawer lock.

Very good antique condition, with some light surface wear consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.

English, circa 1790.
