https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/foundersA late Victorian captain's desk chair, the beech bow-back incorporating a solid raised backrest, shaped arm-rests and turned spindles, set over a beautifully figured and contoured single-piece elm seat, all raised on a beech frame of turned legs united by a H-stretcher.
Designed for practical comfort during long periods of work, its broad stance and standard seat height make it an ideal working chair for a period library, study or home office, while its lighter, golden-chestnut tone allows it to sit easily within varied interior schemes.
Very good antique condition, showing some surface wear and a characterful asymmetry to the leg rake. Structurally sound, stable and ready to place in the home.
English, circa 1880.
