https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/foundersA late 19th century mahogany torchère, the dished top featuring a carved border, set over a leaf-carved neck and a bold spiral-twist shaft, above gadrooned collar and fluted stem, all raised on foliate-carved cabriole legs centred by a turned acorn drop finial and terminating in crisp ball-and-claw feet.
Typical of high-grade Victorian Chippendale Revival cabinetmaking, the dense mahogany permits exceptionally crisp, deep relief carving across the multi-stage column with clean, sharp detail throughout.
Very good antique condition, with a warm patina and light surface wear consistent with age, as well as a slight natural tilt to the stem. Structurally sound, sturdy and ready for placement.
English, circa 1880.
