Item Details

A late 19th century octagonal occasional table crafted in solid walnut, the top centered by a figured field framed by a hand-carved deep relief ivy and berry border with beaded edge, raised on four splayed square legs united by an incised rosette undertier shelf.


The combination of hand-carved relief foliage and incised geometric detailing neatly illustrates the 1890s transition from formal Aestheticism to more organic Arts & Crafts design.


Very good antique condition, displaying a rich patina and surface wear consistent with age. Delicate in design, the frame is structurally sound, with the lower shelf discreetly re-secured to the underside. Clean and ready to place in the home.
