Discover the Stowford armchair by Franklin & Hare, a deeply comfortable and beautifully proportioned design inspired by the traditional country house armchairs we have restored over the years. Combining relaxed elegance with exceptional craftsmanship, the Stowford has become a firm favourite.

Handcrafted in Dartmoor, Devon, around a solid beech frame, the Stowford is upholstered using our Heritage Build, a traditional, no-compromise approach to craftsmanship. Featuring a hand-lashed sprung seat and back, layers of hand-teased natural hair and coconut fibre, and meticulously hand-sewn rolled edges, every detail reflects the skill and care of traditional upholstery. A luxurious feather and down seat cushion provides exceptional comfort.

The chair stands on integrated, hand-turned solid beech legs, finished with our signature hand-cast brass castors, adding a distinctive touch of understated elegance.

The Stowford is also available in our Classic Build, featuring hair and coconut fibre sheet construction. Classic build price £4380.

Made to order and fully customisable, each armchair can be upholstered in your chosen fabric to complement your interior.
