Item Details
Anatolian carpets have a rich history of rug weaving which began in the 13th century and were amongst the first wave of Oriental carpets that were exported to Europe.
An attractive and great quality Anatolian rug made in the last quarter of 20th century that is much simpler than other examples of its type.
The harmonious array of vegetable colours have natural colour variation that adds great depth and richness to the simple drawing.
The piece is handwoven, in lustrous wool on wool foundation (rather than in cotton), which contributes to its durability and years of usage. The array of: muted tan, light blue, green and ivory work well in this stylish rug. The squarish format is also uncommon.
In excellent condition.
An interesting example with a simple naive drawing to add great character to a variety of interior styles.
