https://www.decorativecollective.com/dealers/gallery-yacouThe Amoghli workshop of Mashad is widely held to have produced the some of the finest Persian carpets of the twentieth century. Its later pieces of the 1930s turned from Classical Safavid designs toward European Art Deco and modernism, favouring open grounds, architectural framing and a restrained palette. Scarce and highly sought after, these pieces continue to be highly sought after by designers and collectors alike.
This handwoven contemporary example, signed by its creator and handwoven in Iran, is inspired by the most creative, unique Amogli pieces of the last century. It features a simple graphic pattern in charcoal tones, repeated sparsely over an open ivory ground with high grade, possibly Merino, wool.
Retained in excellent condition for practical use, this attractive Modernist example would make a stylish yet understated addition to a variety of interiors.
